"Thanks to Shield's commitment and determination, the deal was concluded in only eight weeks on very satisfactory terms", said founder Nigel Pothecary, who started the successful independent travel specialist in 1979.
The parties were brought together by M&A firm Shield Corporate Finance, who have considerable experience in the travel and leisure sector.
David Young, Shield's Chief Executive, said, "This is a gratifying outcome for all concerned; Travel Angels will bring a new lease of life to WWT, allowing its founder to sail into the sunset."
