Pupils at Canford School in Dorset were given expert help in deciding their future professions at a Careers Symposium supported by business leaders, including M&A specialist Dr. David Young, Chief Executive of Shield Corporate Finance, on Friday 23 June.
David Young, Chief Executive and Founder of Shield, an international mergers and acquisitions firm with offices in London, Poole, Johannesburg and Beijing, was invited by the school to give pupils an insight into the worlds of finance and international business.
David Young talked to three groups of teenagers, who are considering careers in finance, about the rewards and risks of the industry, drawing from his own 25 year career in M&A, working for Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch and JPMorgan, in New York, Paris and London.
David Young said: "These youngsters are hungry to know what the various city jobs really entail and what contribution they make to clients and to society. In a world increasingly biased towards buyers, who are much more important than sellers to most advisory firms, I hope they caught some of my enthusiasm for helping owners and managers get a fair deal when it comes to selling their businesses."
